Dr. Belinda E. Silbert is a senior Rabbi in the Sephardic Kabbalistic tradition; pastoral theologian, academic, and advanced board-certified chaplain based in South Africa. She holds doctorates in Counselling and Sacred Music and has extensive experience in trauma-informed spiritual care, chaplaincy leadership, and higher-education programme development. Her work integrates Jewish theology, psychology, ethics, and sacred music within contemporary pastoral and clinical contexts.


She serves as Vice-President of the Association of Certified Chaplains in South Africa, contributing to the professionalisation, accreditation, and ethical governance of chaplaincy and pastoral counselling. Dr. Silbert is also an Academic Director and Programme Designer for advanced programmes in rabbinics, chaplaincy, and pastoral counselling.


Her scholarly work includes doctoral research on Ecclesiastes and trauma-informed mimetic care, as well as the integration of Old Testament oratorios and cantatas with Jewish liturgy. She is the author of A Survival Kit for the Hereafter, published by Juta’s Double Story.
